As I wait to get Hornsby’s shifter sorted out, I’m taking care of a few other details one by one. The original quick release levers for the Shimano hubs didn’t fit well with the Salsa drop-outs, so I looked for some replacements. Naturally I looked for purple, and there are some available. The Paul Components levers are too expensive. And I found some very reasonable ones that work with a hex wrench (rather than a lever), but they don’t ship outside the UK.

I had a thorough dig through the Blue Lug site and came across these Salsa levers. They’re a bit pricey (I think the Shimano hubs may have been cheaper) but still only about 25% of the Paul Components levers. And I knew they would be guaranteed to fit the Salsa frame. It just took a moment to replace each lever, and I’m very happy with the result (until they get scuffed up, I guess).
We’re looking at a high of 35C today so I’m not riding. But it was cool still this morning while I was in the Workshop in the Sky, so I took the chance to add some air to Hornsby’s tires.
